This past week, as I’m laying on the beach having some fun in the sun, I get a text from my cousin (who lives in Chicago) stating that she is trying to stay warm from the snow that just fell… in the middle April!!! “Oh I’m sorry, prima! You need to come to Fort Lauderdale and have a piña colada 🍹 with me right now.” Not sure if that made her feel better or not, but hey… I’m enjoying my Spring break over here.
I honestly don’t know how she does it. Sure the cold and snow is nice during the holiday season… but in Spring?!? That’s unheard of in South Florida… but then again so is snow and months of cold weather. Now I understand why so many northerners go south during Spring break. But wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to go to that you can call your own and “live where you vacation?” Sounds like the perfect dream… and dreams do come true so why not?
Having a vacation home takes a lot of planning such as evaluating the perfect location, calculating costs and financial planning, but it is possible. What about the home when you are not there? There are specialized property management companies, such as iTrip Vacations, who can assist in renting out your vacation home while you are back at your primary home. They do all the hard work for you while you collect payments from the rentals. Not bad for an investment for you and your family.
So remember the next time you are cooped up in your home from the cold, in the middle of April, wishing you could getaway and drink a piña colada by the beach in your own vacation home. Goals… it’s all about goals.
