Historic Shippey House

The historic Shippey House was saved from demolition thanks to the hard work of Friends of the Shippey House, Inc.

This home (built in 1913/1914) was first occupied by Broward County’s second judge, Fred Shippey, who served as county judge from 1920 to 1933 and also held marriage proceedings in this historical home.  One of his noteworthy clients was “Tarzan” star and swimming champion, Johnny Weissmuller.

The home, originally located in Sailboat Bend, was relocated to its new location (220 SW 3rd Ave suite 1, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312) next to Riverwalk in the Himmarshee Village historic area in 2011.  The home is now occupied by Cycle Party and Riverwalk Activites.

After extensive and costly renovations, see the slideshow below to see how the home used to looked like before🏚 and after .
